David Gamez After studying natural sciences and philosophy at Trinity College, Cambridge, David Gamez went on to do a PhD in Continental Philosophy at the University of Essex, which he completed in 2001. He then took an MSc in IT and moved to Queen Mary, University of London, where he worked on the development of an agent system for computer security. He has now returned to the University of Essex, where he is studying for a PhD in machine consciousness. Gamez's publications include a book on the limits of knowledge (What We Can Never Know, London: Continuum, 2007), a co-edited collection of essays on contemporary philosophy (What Philosophy Is, London: Continuum, 2004), a book chapter on dependable computing and papers on philosophy, machine consciousness and artificial intelligence.
