Analysis of Human Walking

Project Description:

The study of human walking has been of interest to researchers from different perspectives, e.g. human body modelling, recognising actions, analysing gait, etc. Our research is motivated by the capability of humans to perceive gait from reduced spatio-temporal features. We address several research questions, e.g. (1) the tracking of human motion, (2) the existence of diagnostic signatures for human walking from kinematic gait data. The gait data has been collected using 3D motion capture equipment that uses IR-reflective markers placed on the points of interest on the subject's body. We suggest using machine learning methods to tackle the different issues.
